Dark souls isn't a fighting game. And I'm not talking exclusively about bugs. I'm talking about the shit backstab mechanic, which is instant and has no startup animation at all (i.e., telegraphing, which is what DS is all about.), and the requirement to abuse a bug to combat how incredibly easy it is to abuse that shit mechanic. Pivot backstabs aren't as bad because they are just so hard to get, but it's still sad to see it as such a jarring thing on both player's screens. Good video though, and I hope to see more content in the future, and hopefully we will fight someday on PS3 :) Theres really not much you can do vs someone who lags so bad they are teleporting all over the place. The best thing to do is just block them This is not true, as people have pointed out. Although, if you are immune to improving like our friend heca here, blocking everybody better than you may be the way to go. Best ring in the game!!!!! Easy backstabs!!! Is the old kings ring. It is found inside a chest somewhere in the foggy woods. Basically it is karmic justice but on a ring. Except hits carry over. So you can go and get hit 6 times or until the red aura is large enough. If Dark Souls 1 were a fighting game I'm pretty sure backstabs would outright be banned from any serious play. If you don't care about serious balance that's fine but it's hardly the fault of people who don't like how they work in 1 when they complain about how dumb they are. And then when you throw in the poise mechanic of 1 it gets even worse. Once you can counter simple strafing those players become extremely easy to beat, and you can then open your eyes to the rest of dark souls pvp like animation priority tech (toggles to escape stun, backstab chains, priority backstabs), proper spacing to shut down backstab fishing playstyles (reverse rolls, barrel rolls, pivots) and ton of ysLiQX. I'm looking for any tips or tricks to fight vs UGS players without having to switch to a UGS myself. I invade quite a lot at all lvl ranges and I see… If Dark Souls 1 were a fighting game I'm pretty sure backstabs would outright be banned from any serious play. And then when you throw in the poise mechanic of 1 it gets even worse. Seems that theres no longer the need to two hand a weapon after every shield parry. Hurrah for 1 handing! qrqwqrqrq posted I think ripostes also ignore stat requirements, because I could do 200 damage with a bandits knife eventhough I am well under the dex requirement on my level 1 guy (Tho, I didn't really test this all that much, was more busy trying to fly). The dagger is a hell of a backstab weapon. You can use this at the beginning of the game, during pvp, and anything else, to do a large amount of damage. I guess you have to experience it first hand. There are backstab immunity items, so if you really feel like it's a problem you have 3 different options to negate it. For Dark Souls II on the Xbox 360, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "Mostly useless tip about how backstabs work in DkS2". take out backstabs. no way to punish poise stackers take out backstabs. no way to punish parry spamming taking out backstabs is a bad pvper complaint I have to agree with this. While acknowledging that I'm no champion PvPer, practice does make it easier to deal with constant backstabbing.
